2016 iPad tutorial video Please watch the video below to learn how to get iPad apps into Self Service to install on elementary classroom iPads. Other iPad information to keep in mind:
We need at least 2 school days to get a new app in Self Service before you plan on using it with students.
Start with 8-10 apps at the most that are available for educational purposes for students. Too many app options tend to overwhelm students and they are more likely to "surf" instead of stay on one app.
When looking for apps to install make sure you look for apps with no "in app purchases". These kinds of apps are usually pretty watered down and require you to purchase "extras" to get a full version.
Beware of apps that are too "gamey". For example, is the student just popping bubbles quickly or are they required to do a mental math problem or sound out a word first? Ask yourself, what is the student really asked to do in this app.
We will only be installing free apps at this time - there are thousands of good, free apps available that we shouldn't have to purchase many if possible.
Have students use apps not only for drill and practice but for producing and showing their understanding within your units. Apps like Educreations allow students to show what they know with text, pictures and their voice.
